all around you

My songs tend to be a blend between my expressing my heart and expressing the heart of God towards humanity. On a personal level it expresses my grief over the rejection of what I’ve come to understand without any permission to provide a case for it. This parallels God’s incredulity over those who either dismiss or judge him not on the basis of merit but convenience.

before you were

An insight into the passionate heart of God towards humanity. It is an appeal to reconsider for those that get him wrong.

dreams

To the backdrop of a cacophony of sound with the guitar, a euphorial mood is mixed with a lament. In all of us there is something that works to undo that which is paradise.

eternity

I really wanted the big brass sound for this. Picture if you will a cavernous cathedral, a funeral procession of men singing the chant and inside the coffin a wealthy man of note who loses everything to leave it all to one who squanders it. Based on Eccl 3:11, it is an appeal to reason, to look inside ones heart to see eternity is a part of its beat.

little worlds

A collage of similar personalities. As we’ve journeyed through life we encounter people who are the driven or controlling types that unwittingly co-opt the uninitiated into servitude to advance their own cause. Based on the setting boundaries it is a cautionary tale to beware and see through the games.

this man

My hero, a person, no doubt we’ve come to respect, even if at a distance. Prepared to lay down his life for those of his enemies rather than go to jihad against them.

there is no end

This song expresses the intriguing mystery of the divine that keeps us guessing and humble. We too often forget that God is someone who we cannot contain or box in spite of our addiction to do so. We like a controlled world that can be manipulated and yet we eventually discover this is grasping at the wind.

soul train

I wrote this song in a two week period between jobs, as well as, your world. I’m glad I was between jobs because they may’ve never been written. A classic rhythm and blues track that expresses a longing for eternity and that it’s going to be a party for the chosen.

your world

This song expresses the frustration one feels when not allowed to be who you were created to be, viewed through a filter that you did not sign up for. A clash of world views means the inability of some to be flexible enough to support you and your calling.

your home

This song is based on the Book of Revelation and attempts to paint a picture of our true home – albeit being beyond our realm of  comprehension.
